Reading Selection:

Last Hope Island: Britain, Occupied Europe, and the Brotherhood That Helped Turn the Tide of War

By Lynne Olson

From the Comfort of Home

How wonderful it was to once more gather in the company of our Dames friends and their guests!  Huge thanks to moderator Katherine Saville and organizer Nancy Robinson for facilitating a delightful book discussion on Zoom.  With Claudia Lane hosting this very well attended Zoom meeting, there were twenty-four in all.  Membership Chair Cynthia Szczepanski warmly introduced three Prospective Members.

Heroes and Heroines

It was agreed that this was an interesting chronicle of an Anglo-American alliance and ran the gamut of emotions for our readers.  Unified by their loathing of Germans and of any of their countrymen who collaborated with them, this was an account about an eclectic group of European refugees who helped stave off the Nazi assault of Britain and contributed more to liberation in World War II than they have previously been given credit for.
