Dames
2018 Ruck March
Centennial Park, Evanston
May 25, 2018
Patriotic Service took center stage with Illinois Dames’ sponsorship of the Chicago Veterans 2018 Ruck March Lunch. The Ruck March serves to honor and remember those whom we have lost on the battlefield and at home. The 20-mile journey from Glencoe to Chicago by veterans and their family and friends served to raise awareness of PTSD and suicide among our veterans, an epidemic that plagues many who have served in combat. The 20-mile length symbolizes the estimated 20 veterans we lose each day to suicide.
The NSCDA-IL was delighted to partner with Chicago Veterans by underwriting and serving lunch to march participants at Centennial Park in Evanston, Illinois. This was a unique opportunity to lend our support to veterans’ empowerment as they make their transition from military to civilian life. What a marvelous way to showcase our support for our veterans! The hearts of the Dames volunteers were touched as they welcomed and served lunch to march participants.
