Fortnightly Summer Programs
Held on Zoom
As the Illinois Society continues to fulfill its purpose and mission, we continue to enjoy the advantages of association with the Fortnightly. Past and present come together effortlessly in a variety of virtual programs offered to the Dames over the summer.
New discoveries and old favorites go hand-in-hand with presentations such as: “How to Hug Water: Leading the Effort to Save Lake Michigan and the Chicago River” with Cameron Davis; “Bitten by Witch Fever” with Lucinda Hawksley, author, broadcaster and granddaughter of Charles Dickens; “Fact or Fiction: The Truth About General Washington’s Long Island Spy Ring” with Elizabeth Kaplan; “Gardens of the North Shore of Chicago” with Benjamin Lenhardt; and, “Beyond Traditions: Listening to the Past” with Andrew Appel.
With summer here just in time, this series offers opportunities to inspire discovery and engage with friends near and far. For the second consecutive year, our thanks to the Fortnightly for embracing the challenge of Zoom/virtual events and for sharing thoughtful programs that inform and entertain.
