DAMES
Book Club
Scandalmonger
by William Safire
Summer is only just beginning, and with that the loveliest Dames gathered to share their love of a good read. Book Club this June offered Dames a reading experience filled with scandalous shenanigans and political perversions, showing the scheming side of our Founding Fathers. Scandalmonger by William Safire was timely, topical and lent itself well to group discussion without the heat of the current political climate.
Attending the club meetings were: Laurie Ashcraft, Jean Brown, Cami Burgess, Mary Carter, guest Mary Jane Clay, Marilyn Helmholz, Paula Jurisson, Judy Konen, Claudia Lane, Ginny McTier, Nancye Mowry, candidate Judith Newell, Nancy Robinson, Katherine Saville, Cammie Schumacher, Joan Shannahan, Judith Urban, Sally Veeder, and Sonya Wolsey-Paige.
Thank you to Dames Nancy Robinson for helming the book discussion and Joan Shannahan for hosting the suburban meeting at Onwentsia Club in Lake Forest on June 5th. Also, thank you to Dame Mary Carter for assuming the discussion lead at The Fortnightly on June 14th.
