Dames
Illinois Dames at Regions I & III Conference
New Orleans, LA
Thursday, March 28 – Sunday, March 31, 2019
The final Regional conference was held by Regions I & III in New Orleans. In the future, Regional conferences will be replaced by an annual meeting, alternating with the Biennial. The agenda in New Orleans included training in all areas of Dames organizational activities, including Treasurer, Registrar, Historical Activities, etc.
Of particular interest to Claudia in the Presidents’ meeting was the sharing of how to celebrate the 125th anniversary of a society, since ours is coming up in June 2021. As National Roll of Honor Chair, Mary attended the Membership meetings and learned about membership demographics, the push to collaborate with other lineage societies and gained ideas for social events that bring Dames together. She also attended the Historical Activities workshop, which she found to be informative with valuable takeaways for our society that she is looking forward to sharing. In addition to chairing the Historical Activities Workshop, Barbara participated in National Leadership Team meetings.
The host committee outdid themselves in arrangements, including a dinner at the World War II Museum. As always, the participants from Illinois – Mary Fields, National Roll of Honor Chair, Barbara Linville, National Historical Activities Chair and Claudia Lane, National Nominating committee, will continue to share what they learned with our society.
The Illinois Dames would like to thank our attendees for their generous contribution of time and service, beyond the normal administrative demands of office. Participation in these conferences effectively helps raise the visibility of our society on regional and national levels.
