by William Tyre, Executive Director and Curator of Glessner House

Program

Dames and their guests gathered to learn about Bishop Louis Henry Ford, his life and times, and crucial role in the preservation of Chicago’s oldest house, Clarke House. Commissioned by the NSCDA-IL Historical Activities committee in honor of Black History Month, William Tyre, Executive Director and Curator of Glessner House, presents his extensive research on the ministry of Bishop Ford and his influential role in Chicago politics.  Using, among other resources, recently examined materials from Clarke House, Bill showcases Bishop Ford’s determination to protect and maintain his residence, historic Clarke House, now the Clarke House Museum.
