for its Ruck March Lunch

This year’s Biennial Council was held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Arlington, Virginia  on October 18-22, 2018. In all, there were close to 225 Dames in attendance.

The Presidents of Corporate Societies and other National Board Members arrived earlier in the week, followed by all other Biennial attendees.  The weekend was full of exciting programs, offering opportunities to socialize and learn about the important work of The NSCDA and our Corporate Societies.  Saturday featured the opening Biennial Council Meeting and a Black Tie affair with a presentation by American businesswoman Carly Fiorina, titled “Why Preserving the Past Builds a Better Future.”  Sunday afternoon brought a special service at Arlington National Cemetary at the Spanish-American War Memorial, preceeded by the Council Closing Session.  Throughout the Biennial there were opportunities to explore historic sites and museums through tour offerings, as well as instructional workshops aimed at enhancing the work of each society.

Congratulations to the Patriotic Service Committe, chaired by Freddie Hayes, for receiving a Lamar Award, recognizing our participation in the Ruck March Luncheon.  Gratitude to Jeannine Bergeron, who initiated this new collaboration and to those who helped.  This project garnered unprecedented attention at the Patriotic Service workshop – with a heightened interest for replicating this program  at other societies.
